Apple says it has rolled out a new ‘Fix Location When Lost’ feature to some of the latest iPhones, iPhones that Apple now offers through carriers in the US. After this initial update, a new location notification will arrive if your iPhone is ever lost.
The feature is available to new iPhones purchased in the United States that are not currently on a carrier plan. It is also available to iPhones currently on a carrier contract if that carrier has enabled the location services setting. The new feature was recently discovered in the latest iOS 11.2.5 public beta.
Like previous location services updates, the new Fix Location When Lost feature uses the phone’s accelerometer, microphone, and other hardware sensors to detect if the device has been lost. If it does, the feature will prompt the user to turn on the new location feature and set a new location that will be used to determine if the device
